Diederik Samsom
Diederik Samsom has built a rich career as a physicist, environmentalist with Greenpeace, and political leader. As party leader of the Dutch Labour Party and chief of cabinet at the European Commission, he focused on energy and environmental issues, advocating for renewable energy and combating climate change. He was instrumental in the design and implementation of the European Green Deal and other signature European policies, such as the Recovery and Resilience Fund to restore European economies after the COVID-19 pandemic and the RePowerEU plan to make Europe independent of Russian gas following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
Throughout his career, Samsom has remained committed to addressing climate change and promoting sustainable development, making significant contributions to both Dutch and European politics.
On June 16th, he will speak about how investing in forward-looking solutions with positive net-zero impact is crucial to achieving energy independence.
