Women's Wealth Matters

Legacy Planning

Shaping the World
You Want to Leave Behind

Thursday 27 June | 20:00 - 21:30 | Online

Did you know that women invest differently than men? Women are more likely to invest in social enterprises, and quite a few women play a leading role in impact investing.

Women's Wealth Matters is a recurring PYM event where we gather with female wealth holders to talk about impact investing and share our money stories. Meet, connect and get inspired by other women and the various aspects of impact investing, whether you are a beginner or a seasoned investor.

This time, the theme is 'Legacy Planning: Shaping the World You Want to Leave Behind'.
We are honoured to have found two amazing women willing to inspire us: Ruth Shaber and Annemiek Hoogenboom.

Ruth Shaber

Twelve years ago, after leaving her medical career at Kaiser Permanente, Dr. Ruth Shaber founded the Tara Health Foundation. Her vision is to improve the lives of women and girls through the creative use of philanthropic capital.

In addition, she co-authored The XX Edge, a book that uses data and case studies to show an overlooked investment strategy for earning higher returns: including women as financial decision-makers in your organization or team. The book shows that when women are at the centre of investing—as agents and actors—we all benefit.

Ruth also co-founded Rhia Ventures, a group of foundations and investors that collaborate to bring new types of capital and enterprise to reproductive health in the United States.

Ruth was featured in Forbes 2020 Impact 50: ‘Investors Seeking Profit—and Pushing for Change’ for her contributions to the field of impact investing.

On June 27th, Ruth will share with us how she is spending down her capital over a 15-year period by investing and donating all the assets of the Tara Health Foundation to benefit women and girls.

Annemiek Hoogenboom

While Annemiek Hoogenboom’s husband Boudewijn Poelmann co-founded Novamedia, the holding of the Dutch Postcode Lottery, Annemiek had a career in academia and in development work in Africa and Asia.

In 2005, Annemiek set up and led the People’s Postcode Lottery in Great Britain, modelled after the Dutch Postcode Lottery. As Country Director for 16 years, she left it with over 4 million players, supporting thousands of community groups and nearly 100 larger charity partners annually.  In 2015, she initiated and led the Postcode Lottery in Germany for 5 years.

Today, the Postcode Lotteries Group is one of the world's largest private donors, having raised 12 billion euros since its inception. In 2003, Annemiek persuaded Nelson Mandela to become the first international goodwill ambassador. In 2019 she was knighted as an influential player in Dutch philanthropy as Knight of the Order of Oranje-Nassau for her engagement with human and women’s rights and protection of the planet.

At the end of 2021, Annemiek joined an impact investment fund contributing to a healthy planet and society. She is actively working on her legacy through their foundation, Stichting de Boomgaard, which advances climate justice, women's education & empowerment, freedom of press, and entrepreneurial solutions to social or health issues in Africa.

This webinar will be interactive so that we can ask the speakers questions and have time to reflect on "what is enough?" and how each of us stands in this for ourselves.

PYM's WWM network consists of women who have amassed wealth in a variety of ways: entrepreneurs who have become wealthy through their work or business, seasoned investors, NextGens, and women who have become wealthy through inheritance or marriage.

"WWM is very welcoming, calm, loving and optimistic, respectful of everyone, in short: alive!"

"It's very powerful when women come together because the conversations seem to touch a more personal level than when men are involved."

"WWM is inspiring and gives you a chance to connect with people who are in the same situation."

What is PYM

PYM is an independent foundation that connects and guides wealth owners to invest their capital consciously for a better world. We are a peer-to-peer community of families, philanthropists, individual investors, family offices, and foundations.
We believe in the power of money as a force for good. That is why we promote listed and non-listed impact investing. You can invest successfully in businesses, directly or through funds, that have a purpose beyond profit.

We focus on investors in the Benelux, but we welcome everyone who shares our goals to join us.
