Sunday, April 12th | Breakout: A Personal Story on Choosing Directions in Impactful Investments
Annegien Blokpoel is an economist, investor, and entrepreneur with more than 30 years of investment experience. Over the past two decades, she has gradually shifted her portfolio toward impact investing across asset classes, including equities, bonds, and microfinance funds.
Fifteen years ago, she also began investing directly in innovative technology startups. In recent years, she has taken this approach a step further, choosing to invest exclusively in companies that contribute to repairing and regenerating the world. She describes this focus as "Regentech with Catalytic Impact." To accelerate this approach, she founded the Catalyst Impact Investment Club, bringing together investors committed to deploying capital with purpose.
Earlier in her career, Annegien worked in structured finance and corporate holdings of large Dutch- and Belgian-listed companies, gaining deep insight into capital markets. For more than twenty years, she has also worked as an entrepreneur and advisor, helping corporations, SMEs, and startups navigate growth, transformation, and exits. Her work often focuses on identifying critical tipping points and guiding boards through strategic change.
Across her work, Annegien is driven by the belief that our current economic models are no longer sufficient to address the challenges we face. She advocates for new ways of investing, collaborating, and sharing value that can contribute to a more just and regenerative world.
During the breakout session "A Personal Story on Choosing Directions in Impactful Investments," Annegien shares her personal journey as an investor and reflects on how purpose-driven capital allocation can help shape a fundamentally different future.
