Sunday, April 12th | Breakout: Why social cohesion is so important; how to strengthen and invest in it with media as a tool

Ralf Roex is a social entrepreneur with extensive experience across both the corporate and impact sectors. With a background in business administration, he spent the first decade of his career at Unilever and FrieslandCampina, working in several international contexts including Nigeria, Kenya, and Myanmar.

Motivated to contribute more directly to societal change, Ralf later moved into the impact sector. He joined the impact investment fund DOB Equity, where he worked with entrepreneurs building businesses that generate both financial returns and social impact.

Over the past decade, Ralf has continued to work at the intersection of entrepreneurship and impact, serving as a board member and advisor to various social enterprises.

He is the co-founder of the Cinetree Foundation and currently serves as Managing Director of Cinetree, where he focuses on building communities around film and storytelling that inspire positive social change.

During the breakout session "Why Social Cohesion Matters — and How Media Can Help Strengthen It," Ralf Roex and Hanna Verboom explore how storytelling and media can contribute to stronger social cohesion, and how investment and entrepreneurship can help support initiatives that bring communities closer together.
