Volkert Engelsman is the founder and former CEO of EOSTA, Europe's leading distributor of organic fruit and vegetables, and currently chairs the Robin Food Coalition, a network dedicated to accelerating the transition toward regenerative agriculture, healthy food systems, and social inclusion.
After graduating in Business Administration, Volkert began his career at Cargill in the United States, then founded EOSTA, where he pioneered new approaches to sustainable and transparent food supply chains. Over the years, he has initiated numerous ventures and initiatives, including Nature & More, Soil & More, Dr. Goodfood, True Cost of Food, Vitalis Organic Seeds, Ecos del Agro Costa Rica, Biofresh Belgium, TOSC UK, and Red Sea Organics Israel.
During the United Nations International Year of Soils, Volkert launched the global Save Our Soils campaign together with FAO, NGOs, and international advocates such as Desmond Tutu, Julia Roberts, the Dalai Lama, Sioux Chief Arvol Looking Horse, and the Prince of Wales.
His work has received multiple recognitions, including the #1 position in the Dutch Sustainability Leaders Top 100, the King Willem I Award for Sustainable Entrepreneurship, and the European Business Award for the Environment.
During the breakout session "Regenerative Food Systems Preserving Soil & Waterways," Volkert Engelsman and Wietse van der Werf explore how regenerative agriculture can help restore soils, protect waterways, and transform food systems. Drawing on decades of experience in the organic and regenerative food sector, they will share insights into the opportunities for investors and entrepreneurs to accelerate this transition.
