Herman Wijffels

Herman Wijffels (born 1942) studied economics at Tilburg University.
At the beginning of his career, he worked successively for the European Commission and the Ministry of Agriculture in the field of agricultural policy and international trade policy.

In 1977 Herman joined the Dutch Christian Employers' Association as General Secretary. From 1981 he worked for Rabobank, initially as a member and between 1986 and 1999 as Chairman of the Board. From 1999 to 2006 he was Chairman of the Social and Economic Council and between 2006 and 2009 a member of the World Bank Board. 

In the period 2009 - 2016, Herman was active as a professor of Sustainability and Social Change at Utrecht University and initiator of both the Sustainable Finance Lab and the Sustainable Pension Investment Lab.
