Sarah MacFarlane

Sarah is a Senior Manager in Big Society Capital’s Investor Engagement team. Her time is focused on building relationships with individual and family investors who are navigating the social impact investment market in the UK. The team offers free, impartial and impact-driven guidance to investors, ranging from 1-2-1 support, practical tools, resources, and networks to support investors at different stages of their social impact investment journey. Their offer is made possible due to the wider organisational mission of building an investment market where investments help improve the lives of people and build a fairer society.

Prior to this, Sarah spent seven years at PwC, initially as a private client tax adviser with an alternative investment fund focus, helping clients to manage their personal tax affairs and advising on complex international matters. More recently, she led a team on building commercial partnerships with legal and deals technology companies, including leading and advising on a start-up accelerator programme. This involved helping innovative fast-growing startups scale their business through a combination of expert masterclasses, connections with the global network and corporate decision-makers and bespoke support and guidance.

Sarah is a Chartered Accountant and has worked with charities and social enterprises, advising on strategy, partnerships and finance. She’s currently working with Bankuet – an online platform helping people give to local food banks and providing a service to turn donations into the most needed supplies for food banks.
