Carbon Equity is an Amsterdam-based investment platform that mobilizes private capital for the energy transition through the private markets. 

The platform was founded on the premise that many of the companies playing a key role in the energy transition are not publicly listed, and therefore remain difficult to access for individual investors and family offices. By lowering this barrier to entry, Carbon Equity connects a growing group of investors with climate-focused investment opportunities in the new economy. With more than €425 million under management, spread across 30 funds and over 300 portfolio companies, the platform has developed into a rapidly growing player in climate-focused investing in funds and co-investments. 

Carbon Equity operates with a fund-of-funds model and selects specialized venture capital, private equity, and infrastructure funds within the climate domain. Through these funds, investors gain access to a broad and diversified portfolio of companies, spread across different geographies, sectors, technologies, and growth stages. In addition to the fund-of-funds offering, Carbon Equity also provides a direct co-investment fund, allowing investors to take direct positions in specific winners within the transition. This combination makes it possible to offer both broad diversification and targeted exposure, depending on the investor’s preference.

The investment focus covers energy production and storage, industry, mobility, the built environment, and food systems. Within these domains, Carbon Equity targets companies that contribute to emission reduction and more efficient use of resources. The platform acts as a link between investors and specialized fund managers, and contributes to scaling up energy transition solutions through private capital flows.
